[2004] The South Axis is a major development in the city of Amsterdam with a regional and national impact. Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, with its three quarters of a million inhabitants is part of the so-called Randstad, a thoroughly urbanized ring of cities where about 8 milion people - half the Dutch population - lives and works.
